Use this budget route to investigate a total business investment of $100,000 or more in Australian dollars. This is a planning band, not a list of verified offers.
What this budget needs to cover
A larger budget widens the formats you can investigate, but it does not establish eligibility or protect returns. Separate the purchase or establishment cost from cash needed to trade through a slow start.
Count the entry or purchase price, establishment work, equipment, opening stock, professional fees, training and pre-opening costs, cash tied up in security, working capital and contingency. Record household living reserves separately. A minimum cash contribution or a deposit is not the total project cost.
Compare like with like
| Offer type | Evidence to obtain | Common missing amount |
|---|---|---|
| New outlet or territory | Itemised establishment scope, supplier quotations and a realistic opening timetable | Delays, unpaid training, launch payroll and working capital |
| Existing franchise | Purchase price allocation, trading records, stock valuation and transfer requirements | Transfer charges, required refit, staff liabilities and new lease security |
| Advertised minimum investment | Written explanation of what the headline includes and excludes | Tax timing, finance fees, contingencies and personal reserves |
Five decisions before shortlisting
- Agree whether every quotation includes GST, and check cash timing with your accountant.
- Keep purchase price, assets and establishment costs separate so nothing is counted twice.
- Record how many weeks of operating cash and household expenses you can fund without sales.
- Test debt payments and owner wages against a slower-than-expected trading case.
- Compare investment recovery with the rights you actually receive under the lease and franchise agreement.
Choose a brand after checking the evidence
Use the brand directory to find ownership guides, then obtain a current written offer for the actual location and format. Brands are not automatically assigned to this band: costs, eligibility and resale prices can vary materially. Unverified amounts remain unknown.
