Editorial Standards

TRUST SYSTEM · PUBLIC RULES

Accurate, fair, useful—and explicit about uncertainty

These standards govern how BYBI selects claims, evaluates evidence, assigns credit, manages conflicts and corrects the record.

Editorial promiseThe strength of the language will not exceed the strength of the evidence.

Core commitments

The rules behind the publication

Every format may look different, but the underlying obligations remain the same.

01 · ACCURACYTrace consequential statementsUse the best available primary source and distinguish fact, inference and opinion.
02 · CONTEXTRepresent the claim fairlyPreserve scope, caveats and the strongest reasonable interpretation.
03 · FAIRNESSInclude the strongest countercaseSeek relevant responses and avoid criticism built on a weaker version of the claim.
04 · INDEPENDENCEDisclose material incentivesCommercial relationships do not determine conclusions or suppress material findings.
05 · PROPORTIONMatch scrutiny to consequenceHigh-stakes claims require stronger sourcing, qualified review and clearer limitations.
06 · CREDITName who did the workAuthors, evidence reviewers and qualified subject-matter reviewers are identified by actual role.
07 · CORRECTIONUpdate transparentlyMaterial errors and verdict changes remain visible in the evidence record.

High-stakes subjects

Extra scrutiny where harm is greater

Financial, legal, medical, safety and investment claims require appropriately qualified review before publication when the conclusion could materially influence action.

BYBI does not present general educational material as personalised professional advice.

AI and automation

Tools may assist; humans remain accountable

Automation may support discovery, transcription, organisation or analysis. It does not receive a byline, replace source verification or become the final authority for a published verdict.

Editors remain responsible for accuracy, attribution and the decision to publish.

Commercial independence

Revenue does not buy a conclusion

Affiliate links, advertising, sponsorships, review access and other material relationships must be disclosed where relevant. Commercial partners do not receive undisclosed control over findings.

Fair reply

Subjects can address material findings

Where practical and proportionate, people and organisations receive a reasonable opportunity to clarify evidence or respond before a consequential conclusion is frozen.

Canonical ownership

One claim, one source of truth

Every substantive claim should have one canonical Claim File or decision page. Entity hubs, comparisons, videos and summaries point back to that record so revisions propagate instead of leaving contradictory copies across the site.
